How Category and Sector Specialism work | Exhibitor

These two sections are the connecting pin between a company and a user. These are the most important features for an exhibitor and we strongly recommend that you spend time on selecting the right categories for both Category and Sector Specialism

Remember it is important after you complete each section to hit the save button, located at the top of the page.

Why are these important?

These two sections are what connects the user with your company.

To understand how this works below is how a user is created on our platform.

Setting up a user

A user that signs up to our platform is asked a series of questions to help filter their user experience whilst using our platform. Love Your Career doesn't just show the user the entire lobby, but tailors it by what they choose in their future study or career interests.

This list for you is called - Sector Specialism. Our platform will match a user and an exhibitor with matching specialisms to help the user filter out the unnecessary exhibitors that do not share their interests.

An example,

A user is interested in flying and wants to become a pilot, so selects Transports, Travel and Tourism as career interests. This means a healthcare company specialising in nursing will not appear in their lobby, but a company providing air travel around the world would.

It is important that you select the right Category and Sector Specialism, so you can be shown in the correct area and to the right user. This will help them, but also help you in filtering out questions that could not be relevant to you.

There is another important option to be aware of: Understanding the unsure category

Selecting the right category

You are given a selection of categories that we cover on our platform. You can choose to be in single or multiple categories. It's up to you.

The idea is to get the most coverage so you are seen by most users. To achieve this, it is best advised to select multiple categories that your company falls into.

These are the categories that we cover on our platform.

  • College / University

  • Construction

  • Education

  • Law

  • Health, Beauty and Well Being

  • Healthcare

  • Hospitality

  • International Business and Politics

  • Public and Government Services

  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

  • Sports and Leisure

  • Finance

  • Parents Zone

What is Parents Zone - Even though our platform is designed and built for students, their parents may want to receive career advice for specific needs. If you feel that your company could provide help and services towards parents and carers, we would recommend you to include this in your selection. This is 100% optional

If you feel we are missing a much-needed category - let us know! We are always looking to improve our platform.

Remember:

If you change your Category Selection, please remember to click the save button located at the top of the page.

Selecting the right Specialism

You are given a selection of specialisms that we cover on our platform. You can choose to be in single or multiple specialisms. It's up to you.

Remember what you choose here is vital as this is what users match up to, see above

We strongly advise that you only put yourself into specialisms that your company covers and/or has expertise in.

  • Unsure Category (I currently don't know what I want to do)

Why is Unsure Category enabled?

What is Unsure Category first, some users may not be sure what they want to do as a future study or career interest. So they have the option to select 'I currently don't know what I want to do' this is the same option for you called 'Unsure Category'

When a user selects this option they are shown everyone that is included in this category. We ask all exhibitors to include this specialism in their selection process, so it provides a wider selection for users who are unsure.

As default when you are invited to our platform this category will be enabled automatically, we recommend that you keep this on. totally your choice!

Remember:

If you change your sector specialism, please remember to click the save button located at the top of the page.
